A few pictures of my RE5. I bought it about a year ago in Sweden, and it is now in Denmark where I live. It is not running as well as I had hoped, I have some troubles with vibrations, and I can't figure out from where it comes. Maybe the primary chain, or maybe the drive chain, or maybe both, or something else.... For more pictures, have a look at www.re5.dkBy the way, sorry for my English -Tonny

Very nice looking bike! Aside from the vibration does it run well?
I had replaced my drive chain and the one I was shipped was incorrect. It was actually a little too wide and would wander side to side making lots of noise. At least worth looking at.

Really nice RE5 Tonny!! I like the blue better than the red even if I have a red one myself. Hopefully we can figure out what is causing your problem with the vibration. It would be great if the problem is the chain.

I have only driven it for a few 100 km, but I think it drives well :-) Before I bought it ,I had newer driven or even seen a RE5 in real, so I believe it drives well I have the problem with the vibration, and I have a problem starting it, if it have not been started within a week or so. If I start it with a few days between, it is no problem, it starts immediately, but if there is a week or more between, it can be hard to start. This week end a "new" friend and RE5 owner will visit me, and we will try figure out what the problem is. He have the same sort of problems with vibrations on his bike. micapeak.com/archives/re5/msg01992.html-Tonny

Hope you get that vibration resolved. In my experience the RE5 is the smoothest bike ever made. There are no weighted bar ends because its so smooth! My 20 year newer Yamaha GTS1000 feels horribly buzzy compared to the RE5, its almost eerie how little vibration is transmitted from the motor. On the RE5 I only feel bumps in the road, slop in the primary and drive chains, and my worn front suspension. It really is a pleasure from that stand point.

If mine rides like that I will be very happy. Maybe I will even prefer riding the RE5 over the triples. Time will tell on that.

The week-end is over, and I have for the first time tried driving another RE5, than my own. Conclusion is that my friends RE5 don't vibrate, and that mine do, so now I have to find out why and from where. Both bikes had the same type of vibrations with 3500 - 4000 rpm, but those vibrations are very different from the engine vibrations I have on mine. The picture is from the week-end, where my friend Jørn visited me. -Tonny

Can you describe the vibration? Is it a high frequency buzz through the handle bars? Or whole bike shakes? Or is it a lower frequency? Can you hear it?

It is following the engine rpm. and I can fell it in the handlebars and se it in the mirrors. The vibration it there all the time the engine is running, more or less. In the beginning I thought it was the primary chain, but now I am not sure. I am being told to change the primary chain, but I don't know if it possible to buy one, I can't se any for sale on Rotary Recycle. I have a little video showing it, I will try to upload it to my page this evening. I can't hear it.

Tonny, If, in fact, your problem is the primary chain I am reasonably sure Sam will have that part. He has many more parts than are listed on his web site.

I will fire mine up today and see what I get for vibration on the keys. My piston bike does that but I don't think the re5 does.

It was I don't know how many RE5's on license plates we have in Denmark, but only a few. Actually, I only know about these two. -Tonny

Oh yes, I rode mine around last night. When stopped and revving it up the key does jump around like yours. Its once I get moving that everything smooths out.

What about your mirrors, are they vibrating when you drive. Mine does, a lot. "Its once I get moving that everything smooths out" That's about so I felt, when I rode my friends Re5. When driving it was so smooth and nice to ride. Thanks for testing it -Tonny
