Was wondering if anyone can verify if Vetter fairings were ever designed to be installed on the RE5. I realize their Windjammer series fairings were designed to fit a variety of bikes by using different mounting brackets, but wondered if they ever built RE5 specific brackets to allow mounting of their fairing(s) to this bike specifically. I purchased my '75 M model with a Vetter fairing mounted but wondered if the PO made his own brackets or if they were available through Vetter. If I'm unable to track down an original Suzuki fairing I'm considering mounting a Vetter to my A model which I now have running and rideable. I've been riding behind a fairing and windshield so long now I'm spoiled (gotten wimpy). Riding a naked bike I quickly realize I want to get back behind a fairing. Any comments or input on this?

I believe vetter made mounts specifically for the RE5 and in addition at least one
other frame mounted fairing manufacturer relied on the Vetter mounts.

I have seen pictures of the Vetter fairings mounted on RE5's. I have pictures of the mounts. I also have in my possession the bracket from the Vetter mounting kit that relocates the gauges to clear a Vetter fairing. You can find Craig Vetter online as he still sells restoration parts for his old fairings. Send him an email he may have something you're looking for.

It's my understanding that a GT750 mount will fit on a RE5.I Am planning on using one on my 76 RE.Will let you know how it goes.

There was a Vetter Adapter. I have one and will see if I can find it in the boxes. If I find it, I'll Post a pic.

Charles, what was the Vetter adapter, you speak of, used for? Is it the gauge relocation bracket that Hudson mentioned in his post? GTDude, if you intend to install a Vetter fairing on your bike, do you already have one, if so do you have a Windjammer or was it one of his earlier series fairing? If I were to install a fairing on my A model, I will probably just transfer the one mounted on my M model. My M is in rough condition and is a long way from (if ever) being able to ride.

Quawk, Does your Vetter use the RE5s turn signals or are they built in? Can you post a picture? Tim

The Vetter fairing on my M model does have the RE5 turn signals (hemispherical) mounted on it. I will try to get and post a pic.

I am a newbie that just inherited 5000 mile RE 5. It had a fairing and has been stored in the barn Si ace my uncle quit riding in 1992 here in Colorado. Where can I go find info about serial numbers and standard equipment. I think I will end up selling this bike, however I need to get it out of the barn first!

There is a thread on the board about serial numbers but it won't answer your question. Have a look at the thread about the Fairing (tour kit), you may recognize yours. The bikes never came standard with fairings or bags. They were genuine Suzuki options and could be ordered and the bike even delivered new with them installed. Suzuki Fairing: Scroll down the first post in this thread, plenty of pictures of the genuine fairing and will help you decide if you've got a Suzuki item or an After Market like a Vetter: re5rotary.proboards.com/thread/2499/tour-kit-fairings-bagsThis is an overview of serial numbers but it'd be for interest only: re5rotary.proboards.com/thread/2923/history-numbers-engine-number-produced
