Great to have you on board. We have a few Mazda guys and the knowledge transfers very well.
Sam told me many years ago about hydrogen being used in a rotary as it solves the two main problems- inferior combustion (inefficient flame front due to the odd shaped chamber) and of course emissions. Hydrogen solves both issues in one go, flame speed around 10 x faster and zero carbon emissions. Admittedly other problems to solve but as Sam said, the concept was not yet dead. In the early 2000's he'd sold RE5 proper units to both NASA and GE for testing and evaluation.

Yes i am guilty for not being on the site too often, but its a great site. Without it i would not have been able to restore my RE5. I have multiple Suzuki two strokes and I'm not just working on my RE5, but when i need it, it is there for referrence. Please do not shut it down. Thanks!!!!

I realize I’m very late to the dance, but would offer this: The range of potential, engaged participants for the subject matter of this board is very limited. I don’t mean that in a bad way. It’s just with so few of these bikes ever produced, and considering when, and how many even remain in service (who knows?), there are only so many people who ever knew much (or anything) about them in the first place.
I’m playing catch-up after years of career and other commitments but I still love these old bikes. I’m also fascinated and grateful that this resource - thanks to you all - survives.
There are so many distractions - good or bad - available to us via the magic of technology these days. That we can use it to keep interest in these machines and keep them rolling is something I am most thankful for.
As far as contributing, I suppose I don’t have a lot to contribute other than my passion and my thanks to all of you who’ve been neck deep in this for a long time. MANY THANKS, Jeff

Hello again all. I have been remiss but only because my restoration has been stalled. I was going great guns for a time, then when I retired in April, I discovered a million things that I could do and needed doing!
Those were many house and home projects and I even took on a restoration of a Kubota TLB L35. Crazy eh? I learned a lot and still learning from that. It's running and I have a large digging project at the house.
My RE5 awaits me this Winter. The frame (a rolling chassis) is powder coated now as are many of the parts (you've seen my pics). I am looking forward to engine resealing and cleaning with final install.
I wanted to post again because I've met so many helpful people on this forum and because there is an unselfish sharing of knowledge here. We perhaps are a limited few messing around with old machinery, however I think this is about the journey rather than the destination.
I was looking forward to showing my 1978 Goldwing and my RE5 at the Bull City Rumble in Durham NC this fall, but it's been cancelled until next year. I will update the event calendar here. Anyway it gives me some more time to get the RE5 running.
There are a couple of events from the VJMC (Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Club) as well.

I can't help but think that any response you get to this question is a yes, that they (board members) want this site to remain open. Everyone here are enthusiasts and looking for a resource for info, help, and discussion. I am ignorant of what it takes to keep this site in operation, but can only imagine it is much more than most of us members realize. I would suspect that the low volume of production of these bikes and their owners make it a very small niche site and so membership and viewership are, accordingly low. But that is what makes this site more valuable/needed/sought after, or whatever the correct term should be. I applaud and am thankful for the administrator(s), moderator(s) and others that make this site happen.
