No, not Japan. Not even Wayne's backyard in Sydney Australia (but he wishes it was).......... Just a little project. Something knocked up between working the day job, attending rallies and answering the freakin' phone with RE5 enquiries and help requests................... Now, of all us, who'd be responsible for this ? Get it right and I'll post some more pics. Isn't this just gorgeous ? A very tasteful take.

Good clues, I'll see if my guess is correct.

Yup, very nice. Someone spent alot of time polishing those cases! Was it lovingly created in TN?

Yup, very nice. Someone spent alot of time polishing those cases! Was it lovingly created in TN?My clues were the rear shocks as I seem to have a T-shirt from Tennessee with those same appearing rear shocks.
Looks very similar to my 72 GT-550 I think it was called candy Yellow?
The cases look like they are chromed. I remember concerns back then that chroming the cases might not dissipate the heat as well, whoever the owner is, is that a concern?
I think it is Jess's
Very nice take.

Indeed, Jess.
Beautiful job. It would make at least 3 chromed bikes that they've done over there so I guess it must work well enough with the rotary.

Thanks fellas... And thanks to Wayne for sizing and posting them. My computer skills are lacking.
I like the gold. It is very 70's. The seat is a period aftermarket job, and the suspension has been raised. The side stand is pretty useless at this point, but I can hold the bars with one hand and step lightly on the center stand, and she rolls right up... No grunting or lifting required.
My photos don't do the paint justice. My painter had to put ten coats of clear to bury the metal flake. Then five more after he put on the stripes. In the sun it is amazing.
Cases are chromed, not polished. I have done this in the past on several bikes and not had a problem. The biggest issue is making sure the plater does not get plate where it shouldn't be, as some of the tolerances can get mucked up so things don't fit and or leaks develop.
The wheels are painted Lester mags. I then hand pinstriped them in red. I am not an expert by any means, but was happy with the way they look. Lesters are so damn rare. I wish I had purchased as many as I could when they were available. They are now very very difficult to find.
As always, it was built to be a rider. Show ponies are not my cup of tea. It is not perfect by any means... But it was built from stuff I had lying about.
I have run it hard and it all works as it should.
Best,

Although I gave Jess sh*t over this, I must say it turned out nice and am impressed with the results! Great job Jess!! In case you don't remember said bike, Wayne. .

Ooh, I remember. Personal favourite that job. One of these colours schemes with all the chrome engine work but with the full tour kit in white is on the wish/bucket list for me.
Great job you did on that one Zach. Looked even more amazing in the flesh.

Ooh, I remember. Great job you did on that one Zach. Looked even more amazing in the flesh. Thank you but I cant take all the credit, I did have help. That bike was a PITA, it took many many tear-downs to find and repair a trans leak.

Nice. Also very similar to a silver bike- that had chromed cases from memory. Or it could have been the white one with pearl in the paint?

Best, The longer GS-1000 shocks really improved the handling for me , just had to add a bit under the centerstand to oil the chain and spin the wheel. I also put in the No.1 products front fork dampening rods which I really like and are a little longer travel and make it necessary to add 20 cc more oil to each leg to prevent topping, oil starving at full extension.
Jess, I would like to check that paint in person in the sun, too!
A new fork dampening kit was advertised recently on e-bay, did anyone here pick them up? They are advertised for the 74 GT-750L. Tim

I am purist at heart when it comes to my RE5's Brats and a few other oddities. I have, but I have to say, both of those bikes are beautiful! I have toyed with the idea of turning one of my bikes into a cafe style racer for fun. Use the GS rims, convert to belt drive and shave the flywheels down to lose some weight. The belt conversion has been done by someone I know who is a member here and back in the day, there was a guy here in Washington who cut the flywheel weight in half and got banned from every racing bracket after a carb mod because the bike was too fast. I guess as I get older, I want to make something even more unique.
