If anyone has a damaged pannier bag from the RE5 touring kit that's perhaps gathering dust in their attic, I'd be interested in buying the pair of locks that that they come with. Let me know how much you'd like in payment and I'll cover all packing and shipping costs to Australia. Either respond here or PM me please

The bike I bought over in Boonville has bags but they are complete, it would be a crime to take the locks off of them. I haven't seen another set of bags other than that one. My other touring has small Bates bags that aren't the same (non Suzuki). Would Jess have some? Boonville bike with bagsDo you have keys for those locks? I have no keys and wondered what they must look like. They would have to be very small.

Jess was my first port of call but like you Tom, he only has decent bags and you can't wreck a good pannier.
I do have keys but if you don't, they are an incredibly simple lock. You could knock up a key with a dremel tool and a blank in a very short time. If you need a key, let me know and I'll send you a pattern.
Rog, I only really need one so if someone can come up with some, perhaps we can both be helped out. I wrote to the company that made the locks about 10 years ago but I couldn't even elicit a reply let alone get some locks.

Attachment DeletedAttachment DeletedWayne, I too made contact with a company and had no reply www.protex.com/ I will try again. I would think it was a "off the shelf" type latch used on other items at the time and may still be used today. fingers crossed there will be a box of a thousand sat in some warehouse somewhere and a dozen of so would make some old weathered touring sets complete.

Wayne, If you could just post some pictures of both sides of the key along with some general dimensions I bet I could make something up, or possibly have a locksmith make something. It would have to be a small key blank.
Did any other Suzuki bikes from that era use bags? Maybe they had the same hardware?

I'll do that later this evening...........have to go for a ride, it's a beautiful sunny day (darn !)
I don't believe that Suzuki made (or contracted) anybody to make bags for any of the other bikes back then. Mind you, move one mount hole on the brackets and the RE5 bags fit the GT750 very well.

Tom, hope this makes it clear. Measurements are 1/32"- you can see this is just a blank that's been custom made.
