I can't believe you're selling it Lee. There must be quite some emotional investment in work that good. Probably one of the best in the world quite frankly.

It is very nice. I get depressed looking at all the work that I'll have to do to get mine to a reasonable standard let alone like this.
Well done Lee and good luck with the sale!

Thanks for the comments guys, it would hurt to see it go but I've got a little arthritis in my hip that makes mounting the bike really uncomfortable. I'd like to see it go now before I change my mind and thought the timing was right as it's at it's peak condition with all the recent success it's had at various national shows. I know some some people out there will be thinking I want mega bucks for the bike but this is not the case as I have to be realistic if I want to sell, I'll never get what it's really worth. In comparison to a Suzuki GT750 of similar quality I'm selling it for less, if there are any prospective RE5M buyers out there then now is your chance. If I were to let a dealer sell it on my behalf then it would be priced up at big money and I'd rather not do that. Contact me for more information and photos if interested. Z

Can't you just keep it on display in your living room? It is absolutely gorgeous. More like fine jewelry than a bike. Are there tax incentives for you if you donate it to a museum?
I have lusted after that bike, and have been a bit jealous of your handiwork. I can't get mine to one one thousandth's of a percent of your fit and finish.
I wish you luck in whatever your final decision is.

I've had a small number of enquiries already but suspect that most were to find out just how much I wanted for it.
So not to waste anymore time, mainly mine it's up for £8.5k
There is also value in the number plate as well, JGF 1N.

Well after over six years of owning two RE5s, firstly an A model followed by an M model I'm now RE5-less.
Yes sold the M and it was taken away this afternoon, really sorry to see it go as it was so special to me but as a restorer of rare classic Japanese bikes I have to move on to something smaller and lighter.
I'd like to thank all the enthusiasts on here for their commitment and dedication to the marque and of course thanks go to Sam who sadly is no longer with us, not forgetting to mention Jess at RR for making it all possible.
I'll still browse the site and keep in the loop, all the best.
Ziggy Stardust.

Hi Ziggy Your work on both RE's (especially the red one) has inspired me and made me realise that no matter how bad they start off as, in the right hands they can be bought back to better than the day they left the factory. Mines in the middle of a restore and if its half as good as yours I'll be more than satisfied.
Good look with your next projects
Regards Ray

Bugger me Lee, that's a shocker, I can barely believe you're without a RE5.
Has it stayed in the country or gone abroad ?
Someone somewhere will have a BIG smile on their face tonight, that's for sure.
See ya both at Bristol if not before.

I'd rather not bugger you Didge but thanks for the offer.
The bike has gone to a collector in England, I can't say too much as I must respect his privacy.
If he chooses to join the forum then I'm sure he'll spill the beans.
