Just been given an '82 Katana 750 rolling chassis. No motor. Wonder if an RE5 motor would fit in..... mmmmm.... Too much for me I think. I don't even have a spare RE5 motor. I think It will be easier for me to find a GSX750 motor.

Err, yes, what you said! TBH, a Katana is a classic collectible in its own right without being butchered....and so much easier to find the motor as you reckon...

Actually, you should be able to fit any 16 valve 750 motor from 80-82 in there as well as the 1000 (I think that may have been US only) or 16 valve 1100 motor. They pretty much all had the same cases as I recall.

Here's some inspiration: I don't know for sure where these pics come from but they are probably 10 years old or more. This could be Norway. I believe the radiator is up under the seat with fans but couldn't be sure of that either.

That's nice to know. I thought I had read somewhere that only the US got the 1000 model to meet AMA racing rules but apparently I'm wrong. (not for the first time. ) I know that quite a few people over here were putting 1100 motors in 750 frames so that opens up a lot of options. That RE5 is gorgeous. Anyone know where the chassis and bodywork came from. The exhaust looks like a modified GSX-R1100 pipe from the late 80s or early 90s. I see the oil cooler mounted in the frame behind the motor, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of room for a radiator. Considering how hot these get it doesn't look like a Florida bike.

Sam told me once that he "shoe horned one into a Honda CB 750SC frame" but I don't know what this custom is. And seeing as you're all enjoying the pictures, here's two more:

I actually quite like it. I'd change the tank and twin headlights as the shape doesn't quite do it for me but the rest I love. Wonder what sort of noise it makes- if it's anything like a Norton F1 then it's all good!
Any more info about it Wayne?

Gas tank and frame look like they could be from a GSX400. Swing arm looks like a GSX-R bridged swing arm. Wheels and brakes look like they could be GSX-R Nice piece. Wonder what it rides, handles like?

Unfortunately, no further info. As mentioned, this was about 10 years ago.
