Well, I finally borrowed my daughter's digital camera so here is my RE-5. The painter didn't get the color right but I guess I like it anyway. Thanks to all that answered my questions! I really have fun riding it. It's not running 100% yet but I'll get there. You can see my '82 CBX sneaking in there in the back... Attachments:

Oh. Before anybody says anything, the next oil filter I'll paint...

Nice Bike Dave!! Are you going to put the stripes on the tank? I think you mentioned that in a previous post. I like the color. Do you have any before pictures? I hope next year we can set up a meet and you can be there. It would be cool to have multiple RE5's together for some riding.

Thanks Gary!
I will put the stripes on the tank soon. I have the decals. I was not smart and did not take any photos when I got it. Just not smart... I just emailed the guy that I bought if from. Maybe he still has the pictures. If he does, I'll post them. Good idea.

Here it is with the tank decals... Thanks for the suggestion to add some soap to the water. I helped me move the decals around a bit.
I still need to clean the aluminum on the wheels and engine. I'm not satisfied.

Nice, Nice, Very Nice!! I'm sure you are very happy with it. Is the fuel line routed right? I don't recall how mine goes without looking at it but looking close at my avatar, I don't see it on the outside. There are probably larger pictures on the site that show the left side of the bike better.

I don't recall where it was when I bought it but I have it routed this way for a reason, for now. The fitting that the fuel line goes on, on the carb side, is not staying put very well. When the carb came back from Sam it was missing this fiiting. He sent me another one but it never has "stuck" on the carb very well. I'm not sure how to make it stick better. It's not a good interference fit anymore. I have it wired on for now and used some JB Weld to little satisfaction. The fuel line routed the way I have it puts less force on this fitting. It's on my list of things to do along with cleaning up the wheels and engine better...

Sorry to tell you but its not like that at all. The cable comes out the gear housing on lower left rear almost parallel to the road when viewed from the side. Theres also a wire type bracket bolted to the left rear facing lower fork ear mount to keep the cable from rubbing on the brake disc. Here you can see how its supposed to look and the wire clamp onto the fork ear mount

I think I can just rotate mine around. I don't think I have that wire bracket though. I did get a box of parts. I'll poke around. Maybe the PO didn't know what it was... You gotta admit that mine has a certain "Royal Enfield" sort of look though with the speedo cable coming out like that.... Maybe I can start a trend??? PS: I like the blue.

Well see what you can find it might be in the box somewhere. I like the blue as well but i wish it was a bit lighter as how it appears in the photo, its no where near as light as that.

Looks like a standard SU carb, about as simple of a carb as you can get!
