Hi All, After 20 or so years of (not particularly active) searching for a good RE5, I finally found a very nice unrestored 14000 miler 2 weeks ago which was delivered home today. The bike's obviously been loved so I'm well pleased. Started up no problem but idle is all over the place so I guess needs fettling (how many throttle cables do you need on one bike!!) I'm looking forward to riding her once she's been serviced...weather allowing Cheers Rick

CONGRATS!
Your right about the cables, there are way tooo many there from the factory. For practicality and ease of use, cables can be deleted.

Thanks guys. I'll be doing a lot of reading and re-reading over the next few weeks and I think I'll use the winter to get the bike as near perfect as possible (within my very limited budget), but it's better than I could have expected for a 35 year old classic. Fandabulamungus!! Cheers Rick I'll take some pix and post them up at the weekend... just in case anyone doesn't know what an RE5A looks like
