I just wanted to introduce myself to this forum. My name is Dan Alameda and I live in Salinas, CA. I recently purchased an RE5a with only 7K miles on it that I am bringing back to life. This is my 3rd RE5 having purchased an RE5m back in 1975 new when I worked as a Suzuki mechanic. I also owned another RE5A back in the early 80's. I attended the Suzuki dealer show in Las Vegas when the RE5 was introduced to dealers and I attended the factory Suzuki Rotary service school. I restore vintage bikes for a hobby and have a pretty complete machine shop in my garage. I also am very active with the ST-Owners Club and frequently tour around on my ST1100 Honda. I currently have about 14 bikes in my stable some in various stages of restoration. To date this RE5a is my 75th motorcycle I have owned.
I am looking forward to getting this one back on the road - I have but about 125K miles on my past two other RE5's. I hope to meet some of you sometime. I would like to take a ride with some other RE5 owners. There is nothing else like riding two RE5's close together when the exhaust notes start a harmonic between the two bikes - sounds like a B25 bomber!
If there are any other RE5 owners near Salinas, CA drop me a note - I would like to meet you.
Dan

Glad you are here... Nice to have perspective from a fellow who was there at the front end.
If we can help we are only a phone call or email or away.
Best,

Welcome. I, too was a mechanic and later Service Rep for American Suzuki for almost 15 years. I assembled and serviced our first RE5 when they were introduced and later received training at Suzuki in Brea, CA on the RE5 after I was hired in 1981. I now teach at MMI in Orlando, FL. We actually have one of the cutaway rotor propers from Suzuki. Unfortunately there are no rotor seals on it.

Rotary Recycle (Jess?) I sent you an email a few days ago inquiring on several parts. I could not find your catalog link on your website only the parts book,

I asked her to resend it today when I saw your message, as it sounds like you did not get it.
Let us know...
