I am seeing more and more RE5's for sale,as dealers are trying to take advantage of the ever increasing value of bikes requiring restoration. However if you are a potential buyer, then unless the bike can be driven or at least heard running then you must consider that it may need a Proper unit (engine) that can cost a small fortune, if you can find one. Regards Roy.

I absolutely agree. My pet peeve is the statement, "ran when parked". A bike that starts, runs, rides and stops should bring a premium. Anything else should be considered a parts bike. Maybe you get lucky, maybe you don't.
I also find it irritating when someone says "run's great"... then come to find out, thye started it for 5 seconds.
Re5's will start and idle when the motor is in fact a boat anchor.
On the issue of parts, we have used, tested, proper units available, so they are not that hard to find. As a matter of fact, we have most ALL parts available. Some parts are very expensive. this is purely a function of supply... Remember, Suzuki only made 6300 units.
Name one other 40 year old bike that has that kind of support in one place... Anyone???

It does not get any better than that...
