Hi guys there has been up to three on this week two imported very low mls excerlent condition and one roughie but not bad all were from $4g to $7g the highest one had been on the week before and passed in at $5877, the other $4900, do you concider this a lot for really good bikes ?, yours Al No. Those figures are at the low-end of the scale for RE's here in Australia. Considering the cost of restoration, if you can get your hands on a going, rideable (but perhaps needing cosmetic work) example for under AUS$6000, you're doing really well. Anything over that mark should need only a little in the way of mechanical or cosmetic work and stretch the budget to five-figures and you'll secure a pretty-much mint one. The market is perhaps a little depressed at the moment with the GFC and a sluggish fiscal outlook. Remember, there are a finite number of bikes out there. Plus, an RE is very much a bike that appeals only to enthusiasts. A lack of enthusiasts (at any one time) will allow prices to fall, and ipso facto, the more people there are who want one, the higher the asking price will be. As a general rule of thumb, I'd be prepared to part with more than $6000 if you want a going concern that won't need a full restoration straight away.
