This is not really a discussion thread, I just thought I'd post these pics for general interest. This is a section of the metering pump check valve. The one-way valve that is bolted to the front of the carby between it and the radiator. It prevents fuel from running back down the metering oil line into the pump which would prevent correct delivery of the under-seat tank oil into the carb bowl. This is essential for lubrication of Apex, corner and side seals. When Rotary Recycle announced a modern replacement, out of curiousity I checked 3 valves I had in my workshop and found two of them not working. Coincidently, within a week, a friend rode 1000 klm on his RE5 with almost no metering oil in the fuel and it turned out to be a faulty check valve (he discovered that his under seat tank had barely decreased in the mileage and traced it to a leaking check valve flooding the pump with fuel). Wayne Anyway, just for interest, an original Suzuki valve. The spring was damaged during the section and is actually longer than shown. The assembled valve is shown in what would be the "open" position under pressure from metering pump oil. Without pressure, the original spring would push the O ring to the right sealing the line.
