Around about 1982 i had my first experience working on the RE5 and i remember it like it was yesterday. Its appearance had a huge impact on me,I think it was the colour more than anything, under the workshop lights it looked amazing. The bike had broken down while on a journey back to England from Scotland with a broken primary drive chain. A new part was ordered from Monty and Ward and the bike was repaired ready for its return home. I remember not sleeping the night before its road test,as i was very excited,it had a flat battery which needed charging overnight. The following day was to set my interest in the RE5 to this day! I cant remember the chaps name,it was a blue RE5`M and he had painted the casing bolts red which had to be removed to take of the clutch cover. I wonder if you are on this forum? or does any one remember him? Roy

Good old Monty & Ward, what ever happened to them? I remember buying loads of stuff from them, green clock covers, oil filters, indicator lenses and spark plugs when they only cost 5 quid each, and they had loads so you could buy them by the dozen (almost)!
