My machinist finally came through... The new water pump bushings I designed are here... They are made from a specific bearing bronze that is used in an oil less enviroment. It is important that some type of lubricant (such as Barrs) be used in the cooling system. To install, pull the old bushing from the cover, using an 8mm Tap (thanks Phelps), and then heat the cover. Throw the bearing in the freezer for a day... It should then drop right in. When the cover cools... Viola... Perfect interference fit. Attachments:

Good to see that this bush is now available from Rotary Recycle, I've looked at a number of water pump covers and noticed that the majority have worn bushes.
I suspect that many owners have never looked to check on the condition of this bush, now is the time to do so.
