Does any one here know, if there are any copyrights on Suzuki manuals, brochures, service bulletins, and other literature from Suzuki ?

I don't know how long copyrights are good for. I know there are lots of popular manuals copied and sold on ebay. When I first got my RE5 I bought a parts manual on ebay thinking it was an original but turns out it was a copy. The seller and I agreed to a partial refund because I had purchased it thinking it was an original and would not have paid what I did for it if I knew it was a copy.
In the past, I have sold many t-shirts on ebay that have the brochure picture from the manufacturer on the shirt. I never was told that I couldn't do that by anyone. I imagine if I was a big business and sold hundreds of shirts I would find out if the design was copyrighted or not. I know a guy from the U.K. who was making copies of the Kawasaki Parts CD (KIC) that Kawasaki used to give its dealers. I have one of them. It is great!! I don't see the guy selling them any longer and I'm sure he could sell a lot if he put them up on ebay. Mine covers the years 1963 to 1998 and it even says in the CD to not use the dealer functions of the CD where it connects to the internet to get inventory so that makes me think that is probably a copyright issue with the CD. What a great program it is though. I'm glad I got one before he stopped selling them.

My thought has always been that if Suzuki or Mazda still supported any of these machines and still sold manuals, I'd be happy to buy them from the manufacturer. As it is, scanning and sharing this stuff is the only way to support our hobby. As far as I'm concerned, though, nobody on eBay has rights to the manuals any more than I do, and I'd prefer to see everything shared for free.

I've written a few company's regarding if I can make/copy so far no one has bothered to reply inc Suzuki. I have a nephew living in japan. and Suzuki not bothered to reply to him either.so I don't think that they are interested in any thing that they no longer produce.anyway here's a Webb ? & a www.copyrightservice.co.uk/copyright/questions
