They must have known Tim!! I did not have any relationship to the magazine that I am aware of.
I also certainly could not turn down a renewal form such as that!

I seem to have forgiven the article of 10 worst bikes here

Did you get a reply?
I'm just back from a short 130 mile ride. Very pleasant. Very happy with the bike and I'm rapidly approaching 50,000 klm. Nowhere in your league Tim, but I'm going to keep at it. I'm aiming to have that VERY rare thing. The high mile RE5.
I see regular posts on FB and elsewhere about the incredible low mile RE5 someone has found to buy. Only 5,000 or 10,000 miles. Sorry, every "ran when parked" or "barn find" RE5 is low mile. Nothing special about that, they're dime a dozen. Dealers lost interest and owners didn't know how to keep them at their best so they were parked early after much frustration and with very low miles.
What's truly special is the high mile RE5. Very rare. And if you're looking, buy it! It's a bike that's run so well it's justified the miles.
PS Re your letter comment about economy, agree, they can be: today's ride, 12.35 litres used for 208 klm (5.94/100, 47.8 mpIg or 39.8 mpUSg). And before someone says "wait 'til you throw on bags" etc, that's with full fairing and bags as shown in my profile pic. Gentle group ride for sure but still a mix of 80 and 100 kph country roads with some 110 freeway thrown in.

I have gotten some of my best MPG either leading or riding in the group.
