It's been quite a while since I've last posted. After getting my bike running well and chasing all the gremlins that most other owners have to deal with on these bikes, I'm now able to ride it occasionally. Other bikes and projects have sort of put the RE5 on the back burner, but I hope to put in more seat time on the rotary. Although I haven't ridden any real long distances on it, I feel like the stock seat would soon get uncomfortable if you were to travel many miles. Has anyone swapped seats from other bikes that may be more long distance friendly? I would like to swap a seat from another bike that would be readily available. Don't really want to buy an aftermarket seat from the specialty seat makers because they're so expensive. It would not have to be a direct fit ( there may be no such thing) as I'm capable of fabricating bracketry to make something fit. Has anyone else made a seat swap that they are pleased with and they feel is more comfortable over long distances. I know a Honda seat on the RE5 may be frowned on by the Suzuki crowd, but in general, Honda seems to have pretty cushy seats on a lot of their bikes. Any suggestions?

Our shop foreman put a GT-750 seat on our RE5 shop demo with offset brackets? memory fade.
QUAWK,My feelings are Honda seats aren't all that comfortable that owners claim them to be.
Members here have made new seats, they may be all sold?
I might suggest a custom Corbin foam and a new stock seat cover if members still have any, for a secretly comfortable stock seat .

The new seats that were made were only a slight increase in comfort and that'd be due to nothing more than new foam. The foam in my seat is still original and has no support at all. I need to do something about that.
But I'd vouch for a GT750 seat conversion. They're a comfortable seat. Suzuki fell behind re the seats on both the RE and GS750 but started to come back with the 850, 1000 and 1100.

With mine, the foam is just plain worn out. A new foam bun would probably make a world of difference. I have not been able to find anyone who makes a reproduction. I guess a GT750 foam could be cut down and they seem to be available

If you send it to Corbin Seats, they can install new foam and fit the cover real nice.

If you send it to Corbin Seats, they can install new foam and fit the cover real nice. As I had done on a ride in and appointment basis many years ago.
I just called recently, and this may take a bit of pleading now as all their seats current are on a fiberglass base.
Good luck, I aint saying it can't be done.
