Hi. I'm new here. Trying to resurrect my RE5. Can anyone tell me where I can get a suitable oil filter? Another question is what is best oil for fuel mix?I've heard two stroke oils being mentioned, and the good old GTX, which I have , but wonder which is the right way to go. Final question. My bike has not been started for some time. Should Iinject some oil into rotor through plug hole before trying to fire it up? Thank you to anyone who can help. Is there anyone in Scotland who is handy with the RE5?

Welcome Mark, There is another post here covering oils and filters in the EU. In the UK Stuart is using the Mobil 1 M1-103 and he's been around RE's for a long time. re5rotary.proboards.com/thread/2916/oil-filter-which-useThere is mention of two stroke oils. I recently ran a full tank of Esther 2 stroke racing oil from Penrite (a bit over 1000 miles) and have gone back to GTX. I found no noticeable improvement in any area but will be running another check soon purely to see if it results in a cleaner plug (forgot to check!). With no real advantage, I can't justify the 10x price ($40 a litre here in AU vs $4 for GTX if bought in a 5 litre container). But up to you. Plenty running two stroke oils with no apparent problems. Just find the lowest ash variant. As mentioned in my welcome email to you, think of joining the Facebook page. I know of a Scottish member who has just finished a 30 month restoration and there is a UK expert who fettles RE5s, his name is Roger and he goes by HGH 770N on this board (he's also on FB). Cheers, Wayne
