76 RE5 for sale.
I am the original owner, purchased new when I was in college. Still have the original bill of sale.
Bike has <23k miles on it. About 35 years ago I decided to take it apart and store it as I owned other motorcycles and decided it was best to put it in a state to preserve for another time.
So the time has come, this is it reassembled and running like I remember it. Asking $8500.

Front calipers rebuilt new pistons, seals, pads, and o-rings
Master brake cylinder rebuilt
New front wheel bearings
Carburetor rebuilt – new gaskets, all new diaphragms (including choke pulloff), and ultrasonic cleaned.
Petcock - new gaskets, diaphragm, o-rings, screen filter
All new water hoses, radiator filler neck connector hose, and fuel hoses
New Bridgestone Battlax Tires and tubes.
New points, OEM spark plug, gas filter, oil and oil filter, transmission oil, air filter
New MotoBatt Battery
New O-Ring chain and sprockets (about 500 miles on them). OEM O-ring chain purchased back when they were still available.
Will include my stock of new spare parts - set of radiator hoses, OEM spark plugs, Oil filters, points, starter sprag clutch, OEM gasket set, etc.
Still have the original tool kit, owner’s manual, and service manual.
Will also throw in the Vetter fairing and mounting hardware for RE5 and Mayer Day Long Touring Saddle (built on original RE5 seat pan).
I did not re-install all of this when I reassembled the bike. I wanted the bike back to original configuration.
Chrome and paint are original. All gauges, lights, indicators, and warning indicators work. Bike is original as it comes.
Jess at Rotary Recycle was the key to getting this in great running shape. He performed the carburetor work, all the system checks, and the tune up.
All this bike needs is a rider.
I know you are asking why sell it. I just don’t physically have what it takes to ride it anymore.
I enjoyed getting back on the road and riding it but it is time for someone else to enjoy.
