Just an interesting side note, Hodaka U.S. headquarters is in Athena Oregon just 60 mile from my home town. Their annual celebration " Hodaka Days" is coming up June 23-26-2022. Swap meet, camping, parade , motocross, trials competition. All development and distribution was done in Athena. Hodaka had the greatest names for their models such as Dirt Squirt, Wombat Combat, Super Wombat Combat and their 250 Road Toad. I will be riding my RE5 there.

Interesting combination of bikes. Funny how a lot of the pics are custom or 'flow on' models rather than teh 70's bike they're talking about. Having said that, there was some nice customs.

This is my follow up from attending "Hodaka Days" in Athena Oregon,
You can see both ends of this wonderful little town in this picture.
Event is held in their beautiful park. I was there on Friday and the event runs though Sunday with a trail ride, parade though town, motocross race, trials competition, swap meet.
This is just some of one persons collection that really shows the history of Hodaka. The little Yamaguchi gave birth to the Hodaka brand. Also pictured are a Rickman Hodaka, Cotton for early Hodaka frame design, Steen which used Hodaka power. There were a lot of custom Hodaka's there, just as there was in the list of 70s motorcycle at the start of this thread. Meet a lot of interesting and fun people there especially a man and wife couple that knew quit a bit about the RE5. They had owned a Suzuki dealership back in 70s & 80s He told me he had an N.O.S. carburetor in its original box. After a few phone calls he agreed to sell me the carb. We meet at the Washugal national motocross race in Washington a few weeks later to finish the deal.
Deal included a service manual and new spark plug with a hand written price of $5.95 on the box. That was a really expensive spark plug in the 70s. This carb. has the very early accelerator pump arm as this was changed to a straight arm by a different carb. body casting with the pump turned 45 degrees. It does have the cover mentioned in the service bulletin RE-1. Does anybody know at what vin.# this changed at ? What a great day of motorcycling.

Thanks for the follow up and interesting "find". I had to refer to my school notes and spark plug costs were estimated at $6.00 and retail estimated at $20.00 . Tim

That little town looks very much like any tiny Aussie town. Single street in and out with a collection of small businesses.
Nice write up Brian.
