Hi Recently the sidestand 'tang' broke off so I thought I would source a replacement searching for both GT750 and RE5, thinking they would be the same. The one I bought was described as from a GT750 and arrived in excellent condition. When compared to the one on the bike it looks quite different, nowhere near as beefy. The GT750 one does fit and supports the bike well and at a reasonable angle, so I am happy enough, but a little uneasy about how much stronger the RE5 one looks. In the photo you can see the difference, RE5 on the right. r

Both bikes weigh about the same - I can't see it being too much of a problem.
Unless the mounting location on the RE places significantly more stress on the stand...

The bikes weigh about the same but the RE leans over a lot more than just about any bike of that vintage. Far more load on the side stand. I've not noticed the GT/RE stand difference but it makes sense.
Personally, I'd be a little nervous. GT sidestands have been known to break. Ask me how I know. Wayne
