Can you run an O ring 630 on the RE5? A question recently asked by FB member Colin Packer who couldn't find an answer on the Board. Thanks for the heads up Colin. Yes. The M model had a 630 non-O ring chain. The A model came standard with a 630 O ring chain with no modifications to the final drive other than the chain itself. The main reason they also disconnected the automatic Chain Oiler. An O ring 630 can be retro fitted to the M model without the need for packing and spacing sprockets. Or you can upgrade to a more modern 530 chain: re5rotary.proboards.com/thread/2265/chain-530-conversionFrom the Suzuki Technical Bulletin Suzuki RE5A listing changes to the A model:

I second Wayne's response. I have been running an O-ring 630 chain on my A model for quite some time with no problems. I got the bike with its original non-O-ring chain and 5K miles on the odom and replaced it at 15K miles. I guess it was a hastily modified M model since it had the non-O-ring chain and its chain oiler was active. I decided to leave the chain oiler functioning to keep the rollers and sprocket teeth lubricated. The excess oil doesn't seem to have caused any issues with the O-ring rubber.
