Does anyone know of a suitable replacement for the tubular inlet screen/filter that presses into the top of the body of the petcock. I am doing the petcock modification posted by member ap951 and the inlet filter on mine was basically disintegrated when I disassembled it. I also asked in response to that post, but will ask again which particular Hylomar product others have used for gaskets/o-rings. They make a wide variety of products.

You can get new filters from Suzuki . Here is the part no. 44322-31050

timpa136, Thanks for the response and info. I guess I should've researched further before asking.

I have been pleasantly surprised myself as finding some parts are still available.
Good screen/filters are a good idea as it doesn't take much grit to clog the pilot jet.
No luck on chains or front sprockets or NOS seats, though.

After just now being able to download the parts manual (thanks Wayne) I've seen that in the exploded view of the fuel petcock that it shows that 3 of the tubular screen/filters are called for. Is that correct or a misprint or me reading it wrong? Was wondering if there is a photo of the complete petcock, removed from the tank, in one of the threads or posts. I recently had mine out and apart to do the blanking modification and install the new oval o-ring, cloverleaf gasket, and one of the filter/screens. Don't really want to remove it again unless absolutely necessary.

I'll pull one apart later and take a pic. Meanwhile:

Thanks, as always, for the response Wayne. The tubular fine mesh (looks like)brass filter/screen at the top of what I assume is the reserve pick-up tube, was/is absent on mine. Looks like I'll have to procure one and remove my petcock once again. Ughhh... Still wondering about the call out in the parts manual for 3 filters.

Meant to add to the above post, where does the vacuum source for the vacuum line to the petcock originate? Is it the 90 degree nipple on the short intake manifold behind the carburetor? There was no vacuum hose to the petcock on my bike and the 90 degree nipple I mentioned has a cap on it. I now wonder if the vacuum operated function was "dealt with" by the precious owner.

I believe I had the above post reversed. The extended tube is normal pick up and the plastic tube screen would filter the reserve. Correct?

Yes, the tall brass tube is the feed for "ON" and the other one is the reserve.
The vacuum is the small elbow nipple on the intake. Looks like your PO has definitely been "solving" problems!
A company called K+S makes brass tubing in numerous sizes. Easily found on Ebay. I think they're imperial sizes but you can get one slightly oversize and skim it in a lathe or power drill to fit. Vague memory I may have done similar at one point.
There were at least two different lengths for the reserve warning light sensor height so probably matched to two different standpipe heights. Not that it matters. Generally RE5's have a huge reserve, mine is original and 4.5 of a 17 litre tank (1 imperial gallon, or ~ 1.2 US gallons). Matched beautifully to the reserve light. When that comes on, you may as well switch to reserve, it's that accurate.

Thought there was one in here, didn't recall it was also tubular. There's your #3 screen:

The tubular fine mesh (looks like)brass filter/screen at the top of what I assume.... The filters are all plastic. The discoloration due ageing vs the new white one.
