Hi everybody! I am a french Canadian actual’y restoring the RE5 of my father. He bought it brand new in 1975, first gen of the model. He really love it and I know its important for him. I, actually, don’t have major conserne execpte about the carburator. When I look at it, I automatically had an headheak haha. I readed a tread about somebody swap the stock carb for an FCR 39 and I like this idea but I question myself about putting a Lectron carburator in it. I did’nt saw this kind of swap before so before doing something, I want to ask you the question. Did you think it can be a good idea? Did you have some advice/tip for me?
Excuse my english! Like I said, I’m a french canadian and I really tried to do my best.
Thanks a lot! Julien

Hello Allan! I'm in Saint-Zotique, Québec, Canada, J0P1Z0. Did your RE5 is running? Can you give me some contact if you have some in Québec about RE5 (Mechanic, community etc.). Thanks everyone for these answer. The DR650 swap speak me. Sound good! Like I said, I really like, for have work with it before, Lectron carburator and they made a specific carb for DR650 replacement. Maybe it can be an option? Can you give me your opinion? Theses (Lectron) carb are kind of "Smart" carb. They did have any jet and they are not very complex. They only have a metering rod and a couple of mixture screw to adjust, thats it. They auto adjust itself with altitude and temperature change. I place the link down bellow. www.lectronfuelsystems.com/sbm/suzuki/four-stroke/dr-650-kits.htmlI will read about the DR650 swap. Julien, I am about an hour from you. As far as I know there are no RE5 clubs or mechanics in Quebec. Your best source of information is this forum where no question will go unanswered. I am working on my carb now to get ready for spring.
