I recently sold my RE5 which I bought as a non runner approx eighteen months ago. It went to a good home (in Scotland) for a decent price and I hope the new owner has fun with it. It was an interesting project. I bought it from Sammy Miller (he of The Sammy Miller Museum fame) and spent quite a lot of money on it. I had nightmares with the carby but eventually got it sorted and once it was running well and had a lot of fun blasting around the Kent and South of England roads this last summer.
I'll be forever grateful for the help and assistance I recieved from many of the members on this site, in particular Stuart Knox, Ron Paul and Wayne Waddington - always there and very helpful guys in the extreme! This is a terrific site and the forum is priceless. It would be virtually impossible in my opinion for someone who knows little or nothing about RE5's (such as me when I bought mine) to restore one of these bikes and get it running properly on the road without it.
To be honest, I think another RE5 would have to fall out of the sky and land in my garden for me to attempt to do another one. It was an experience I'll never forget and an immense learning curve for me. Fortunately, the rotor was a good 'un with 125psi compression. Had it had been a dud I probably would have sold the bike off as parts.
It was an honor to have been part of this unique group of enthusiasts and I wish you all well with your future biking days.
All the best,
Toddyboy

Kind words Toddyboy. Glad we all could help. Many contributors to the threads on the Board.
And your legacy will live as long as the Board is around. "Skipping the light fandango" is our most unique contribution and remains a "Sticky" for all to see.
Thanks,

All the best Graham, it was a pleasure to assist you in rescuing another RE5 and getting it back on the road where it belongs instead of rotting away in the back of a shed. Any time you need a bit of help you know where I am. Regards Stuart

Good luck with whatever you do next, at least you saved that RE5, and this board has another potential member. Must call into Sammy Millers when we visit Bournemouth, assuming normal service resumes this year.
All the best.
