Thank you gents. More delays as Mike caught Covid last week so he's out for a bit. As fate would have it, he got it while attending the 380+ bike event at the VJM national rally where his RE5 picked up Concourse Best Suzuki.
He had the new seat cover on. I'm just waiting on detail pictures to post.

Gents, it's done. Mike sent the photos below. While still not an exact replica, it's closer than any other that he's seen so far (Mike had 3 seats made up with different covers to compare before he started this project). Particular attention was paid to the shape and spacing of the seat "Sausage" stamps and the stitching. The seat also replicates the slight "kick up" at the very rear which no other AM seat cover does, they all pull down (I can spot an AM cover by this alone). See picture #3. Mike's RE5 fitted with this new cover recently took the concourse Suzuki at the VJM national rally scoring an unprecedented 100/100 (over 380 turned up for this rally). Mike has previously taken every available trophy including "Bike of the Rally" with his KZ1300 restoration. That bike went on to be voted "Restoration of the Year" by Old Bike Magazine readers. He tells me he's "very happy" with this seat cover, which means you can be assured it's the best AM available. Contact Mike directly at samootin@yahoo.com He will post worldwide. Price is $200 AU (about $150 USD or 112 UK pounds plus postage and includes the strap. I don't expect shipping to be very expensive. There's not much volume or weight in a seat cover. To see a time lapse of Mike's restoration, see here (this was using a regular AM cover, Mike has since lifted his game even higher, redoing numerous items as close to factory specs as possible. Even the alloy is plastic coated): re5rotary.proboards.com/thread/3218/time-lapse-re5-restoration

Hi all,
Thanks heaps Wayne for doing this really appreciate it. Now I'm back into the land of the living those who are interested please let me know as it looks like we have 2-3 covers to be made and to make it worth while for my guy if we can get up to 5 orders that'll be great. He still need to finish off the pattern as he had to quickly do mine for the show and that'll take him 3 weeks from now to do.
Look forward to hearing from anymore who wants one in the meantime.
Thanks,
Michael

Any one know what’s happening with these? I sent Mike an email 26th April and didn’t hear back. Maybe they never got made.

Any one know what’s happening with these? I sent Mike an email 26th April and didn’t hear back. Maybe they never got made. The prototype was made (as shown in the photos above). Mike told me he had the numbers to proceed with a short run to fill the numbers (about half dozen I believe) had been achieved and he was going ahead. I'm surprised he didn't respond. I'll get him to contact you.

Hi all,
Apologies for the delay and thanks for the prompting me to call my guy who is making these seats covers. Great news is that he only finished doing the patterns so he will be ready to start making them from next week. One warning though he is a bit slow but he does a great job.
So if you want one please email me at samootin@yahoo.com to place your orders.
Thank you, Michael

Hi all, The cost is $200AUD plus shipping. This is for the cover only, yes it's a little more than some of the knock offs out there but I personally paid for the die myself as the number of orders won't cover the R&D done for this cover and this cover as mentioned by Wayne is pretty accurate to the original.
Also there is an option to get the whole seat done for people as well including the correct shaped foam, restoring the metal base and new rubbers. (note on the rubbers my guys gave me rubbers that were too thick and I had to grind them down to the correct thickness but that's not a biggy) Costs for this will be on a case by case basis as it depends on how much work needs to be done.
So please ping me directly at samootin@yahoo.com and I'll be happy to work with you on your options.
BTW covers will be ready next week for postage so get your orders in!!
Thanks, Michael

I assume it comes with the strap ?
I have some information about the rubber cushions that the seat pan rests on against the frame. The parts book shows all 4 rectangles cushions to be the same part number 09321-08006 which are 15mm tall.
I have an N.O.S seat and the rear two cushions are 19.5 mm tall and some of my earlier seat pans also had the taller cushions at the rear, But I also have some seat pans where all four are the same. I can not find any difference in the seat pans but to make them fit the frame correctly I had to glue a rubber shim to the bottom of the rear two cushions and sand the sides to make an almost invisible modification.
N.O.S. seat pan to frame rubber cushions Two front round 14.5mm tall Two middle rectangles 15mm tall Two rear rectangles 19.5 mm tall
RE5's seem to have an endless number of variations especially for such a small production.
