What coolant is to be used. I have nulon green in re5 and nulon blue in my goldwing as was told blue best for Japanese alloys. How often is changing the coolant recommended. Also the braided small coolant hoses any ideas on their replacement as can't find the right outside diameter hose to fit the original clamps. I live in Australia and any ideas would be appreciated. I use garden variety tectalloy 60 or 90. Even available from Kmart (and Repco etc). Have been using it for 20 years in my M and have had the waterpump cover off multiple times (changing shaft bearings, finding a cover without the typical spider "cracks" etc). The inside is clean and just as good as post restoration two decades ago.
I do add the Bar's Leaks as per the manual. The manual has the coolant changed every 2 years and that was '70's tech coolant. I do it yearly but most coolants these days are good for at least 2 yrs.
As for the braided hose, I don't have an alternative as I have my own selfish supply of the genuine item. However, have you taken a sample and simply trolled the hose bins at Supercheap or asked at the back counter of Repco?

Thanks Wayne Should be good for the water bottle as well. As for the hose Auto Pro sell braided type nylon sheaving for electrical cable that fits over the outside diameter nicely as well as the clamp. The inside diameter is the problem. When installed should look the part. Will keep looking and if I find something will post it. I was wondering do other modern day bikes use this kind of hose. Thanks for your reply. Kerry

I think Tim is right, I bought them about 1 year ago from my local Suzuki dealer here in the U.S. The short pre-bent hose ( 09343-05087) between the filler neck and expansion tank was also available as are the clamps. The long hose Tim mentioned is long enough to make the long piece and the upper short one. In fact most all of the small rubber part that also fit other models are still available. I am always amazed at what is still available from Suzuki for 40 year old motorcycles. For anti freeze I use Prestone concentrate ( All Vehicles ) and distilled water with a little "Bar's Leak"that has water pump lube in it.

Also as for bars leak it a liquid and not pellets right. I know its a stupid question but sounds to have pellets when you shake bottle I have that's why I have never put some in yet. Probably quite old by now. How much goes in. A photo of the bottle would be good. Kerry

Bars leaks is pellets in a viscous oily liquid. I'm told by people who know better than me that it's got to do with lubricating, not so much barring leaks. It makes me wonder if the completely trashed end bearings I've seen in water pump covers was due to not using it.
Anti-leak is prescribed by the owner's manual (GT750 as well), as noted previously, water passages still in perfect condition and although I changed my water pump shaft end bearing, the old one was still in perfect nick.
14 grams or 1/2 oz is the dose.
