I finally got my 1975 RE5 from storage into my workshop! Lots of things to do: seized up brakes, overhauling every component and so on..... Needs a good clean but is totally original and untouched, has 8000 mls on it and every nut and bolt is original and where it should be The bike was originally delivered to Illinois, USA in februari 1975. Framenumber is 12575, enginenumber is 11993. I bought this bike 8 years ago in the Netherlands, the previous owner imported it from the USA a few years earlyer but I do not know when or from whom.... Is there anyone out there who can provide me with more information concerning this bike? It would be nice to have some history on this one.... Thank you! Michel Stoelen Herselt, Belgium

I've come to value when "...…..every nut and bolt is original and where it should be." a lot more than I used to.
Glad you've got such a good starting point to your restoration. And it's already got a story behind it. It's moved a long way east across the globe.
Hope you find its full story. Good luck.

Thank you guys! I have been reading this forum for many years now and am always impressed with the information one can find here. If you cannot find it here, you will not find it anywhere!
I knew my bike was in good condition when I bought it but I immediately put it into storage due to my other projects and work. Now I finally got the bike into my workshop and whilst having a closer look I am really stunned by the condition: there is no need to repaint or rechrome parts and that is rare for a 45 year old bike.
Cheers,
Michel

Excellent! Please don't restore it.... Sorry I don't have any information on your bike. Good luck with getting it running again.
