Hi, I have taken the switch out of the oil Tank to check if its ok. Is it possible to check if this still works ok. The black/white wire is the earth one but there are 2 blue/white ones. I guess one one these blue/white wires gets 12v on it at some time. And if there is no oil then the warning light come on?. I guess moving the black slider on the switch up and down will turn the warning light on/off?. Thanks Nairb

There are 3 wires as is on low level petrol sensor. 1st turn on key shows check lights. This is why there are 3 wires . 2 circuits. You should be able to trace the wires through to ignition switch block in headlight and test. Yes slide the float down on switch to compete circuit . Bulb is more likely to fail rather than the switch.

and please don't call it a 2 stroke bottle Tim Yes yr right its 44611-37000. Or more commonly........ TANK, OIL. Its nice to have such refinements as a level warning light. No such luxury on my gt750L. Definitely an executive's bike these re5's.

I should have connected a spare battery just to have a look. I can stick 12v across the blue/white wire and see if it works. I did think it needed to be in oil to work... plainly not!....... obviously not.

I have spare if you need . They are the same as GT750 but rarely fault.

It works fine. And of course I did not need 12v. A simple resistance check was all that was needed. The oil tank is on the lhs compared to the gt750,gt550 & gt380. I still found it tho.
