My dash lights were somewhat feeble so I replaced them all with led replacements.
Got it all back together and the indicator light on the dash only came on with the right indicators. Left indicators were still working perfectly.
After probably way too much thought and examining the wiring diagram I worked it out... so simple...
The dash indicator light sees DC polarity both ways depending on which side indicators are on. LED lights only work one way whereas incandescent bulbs don't care.
Started thinking about building a little diode bridge type affair to get the correct polarity to the led bulb under both conditions.... then caught myself and put the old bulb back in. Works as it should!
Keep it simple Andy, keep it simple!

Thanks for that, I know the bulbs burn dim when they are old and have that silver like coating on the bulb decreasing the output.
I always thought the 77 GS-750 red background gauges were quite neat.

Andy, Given the problems with polarity you encountered, do you suppose just replacing the illumination bulbs with the LEDs might work?

Yes it did. I've got LED's in everything except the indicator light which has a standard element bulb. I can actually see my instruments at night now!
