Hi Guys, Does anyone know where I could get some replacement screws for the Clutch release inspection cap, mine are very soft and the heads have been chewed out, I have cut a line across with a hacksaw so they can still be used with a flat head screw driver, but I would like to replace them. I am in Melbourne Australia, has anyone found any that are a good replacement, or if anyone has some NOS spare I would be happy to buy them. Thanks chris

Hi Chris, I'm in Sydney. The only "Local" source I found for these screws was in Singapore. They have exactly the same style of pan head, look identical except they are stainless steel.
Nowhere in Australia do they seem to have that same style of panhead. The local stuff has a flatter style head.
Check your Private Messages for my address. Send me a stamped self addressed envelope and I'll send you a couple.

02112-05127 ! SCREW | M,A $1.52 Just checked, still available in the states and available to send as well. Stainless would be much more desirable.

I'm wary of those still-available screws and things. I've bought them for the brake union banjos and they are completely different. Even the banjo washers are very different. I've tried once or twice with other bolts as well and they turn out to be not the same as original. So they may be available, I admit that I just gave up trying.
Having said that, there is a surprising amount of small stuff like brackets and rubbers that are still available over the counter and are the same.
I had a bike in about a year ago that a restorer wanted me to check over. There was more than one place where the replacement screw that he'd put in was too long (Suzuki sometimes has odd lengths like 12 and 16 mm on small screws). They weren't even holding the casing firm against its gasket. And put in so tight that they had bound up at the bottom of the thread.
He also had used some of those Australian stainless screws with the wider, flatter pan head. But when used in one of the sunken Alternator cover screw holes the wide head had cracked the alternator casing and hadn't been noticed.

I also bought some wider head screws just for the clutch adjustment cover from a hardware store closing its doors and in that instance there was clearance for the larger head and it worked fine, just not original equipment. Too bad about the banjo bolt problem, I hadn't bought any of those or encountered that. I did just get the wide head chrome screws for the fork trim cover for a friend and they are correct. Tim
