I expect Mazda will be pretty tight lipped about tech info as well.
I couldn't get any more info from Sevenstock or our local new car showing. After asking around, I finally got "yes, they want to get it right" out of them. That's something anyway.
As a slight unrelated remark, I noticed again this year in particular that even the base cars are really being upfitted with accessories, eg. lane departure, braking with or without the cruise control on so I expect the RX-9 will have all that and more. Tim

Shame but not surprised with the emission control side of things... rotaries are dirty engines...

Interestingly, haven't heard yet from Mazda. I recall reading Mazda released a small rotary hybrid for a vehicle leased to Japans government and/or some fleet account. I do know Mazda has hybrid experience from the days of Ford. I saw Mazdas equivalent of the Ford Explorer, a hybrid vehicle that the local Fire department was driving in So Cal.
How about a couple of electric drive motors coupled to the rotary?
SEVENSTOCK is coming up soon, bound to hear rumors flying about while there.
An electric motor revving up just doesn't have the same guttural impact as a rotary, especially when revving up highly ported race engines in a high walled courtyard up to the rev limiter! Zoom-Zoom Time for SEVENSTOCK again... will have to pry a little! Tim

SEVENSTOCK came and went as a single day event. Saw Tom93gts there and some other friends for the day. Hope to have a new RE5 member join the forum. Big show with Mazda participating and racing their historic race cars around the Auto club speedway in Fontana. Yes, they reved them up till the revlimiters bolted ! No, they know nothing. Tim

This is no endorsement but this fellow was out at SEVENSTOCK although he has no plans for a RE5 plug adapter, he has this one for the Mazdas. rotarycompressiontester.com/Thanks Tim

He had a nice display with a beautiful if not highly modified Eunos 3 rotar for demonstration. I think he said the units would compensate
for cranking speed and possibly altitude. I asked if they retained the memory and he said no, but people take a phone pic of each screen.
Some lucky fellow got one as a rally prize!
