Joe, have you insured gas flows freely from the petcock? Can you determine if it is lean or rich? Do you loose spark when it won't start? Lay a good plug on the case with the coil wire and verify a good zapping while cranking, that should narrow it down. Tim

I have a clear filter installed…it is full of fuel…apears to be flowing nicely……hooked up another fuel tank..I need to try another engine…the carb from my running bike makes it better …but not much..could still be ignition…keep going back and forth…someone elses turn...

OK, Lets try to rule out the ignition as a problem. Please forgive me if you have already done this multiple times already. Here is the link to Service man bulletin #9 page 3 edit, page 35 IGNITION TIMEING

Does it check out this way or any questions?

Have you ever shipped a bike before? I'd be interested be we would have to get it to KC somehow. I work somewhere where there is plenty of room to unload it ( by a shipper ) but would they be able to pick it up at your place? I'm sure they will send a 48 foot trailer.

Tom, I'll be in Cali in September- want me to hire a trailer and bring it to you? My rates are very reasonable @ $1/mi It's not THAT far from Cali to Ohio then KC is it? Oh just checked- 800 miles. On top of the 1600 miles from LA! Sheesh, you guys have got some decent distances there...

Sure! Why not! It's only money.....
Sometimes these "little" trips sound good on paper until you actually do it. I'll bet a shipper will be $500 anyway. I'm not much good at sitting and driving in a truck for 1000's of miles!

The bike now has a good home…moved away 100 miles with visitation rights. He is not planning on working on it himself. His brother in law will be helping out. I never tried running it with the air cleaner installed. My advice to the new owner was…Even if you never get it running…you will be able to get your money back out of it.

Strong money for a non runner.
Maybe the new owner will figure it out. Sometimes a new set of eyes is all it takes.
Best,
