carandclassics the fatal saying "You can hear and feel there is still good compression" and at 4k could be another expensive boat anchor

That irritates the crap outta me... Said it before umpteen times... This is NOT a piston engine. You CANNOT just kick it through and know there is good compression. The ONLY way to determine if the engine has some life is to perform a PROPER COMPRESSION TEST. Every time someone "new" gets a bike... here is the conversation: I just bought this cool bike. Oh yeah dude... it has awesome compression. I'll have it running in no time.
(Jess)Really? how much compression does it have?
I do'nt know... but it was really hard to kick it through.
(Jess)That means ALMOST nothing.
No dude... it has compression, I can feel it...
(Jess)Until you put a gauge on it, you CAN'T know.
Well... the guy said it ran when he parked it.
(Jess)Most bikes ran at one point in time... One... or many months later... Ad: Super rare bike, ran when parked, lost interest in the project... Has great compression.Rant Off... Just my 2 cents... Best
