hi can anybody tell me if the hose from the points housing is a vacume hose or just a breather and if vacume where does it connect cheers brian

I would think its a breather/ ventilation pipe to help prevent the points etc rusting with the heat from engine and then condensation within the distributor. the unit is sealed with the rubber gasket and the end plate to make it water tight from the rain etc.

Brian, Give the mechanical advance frequent attention with axle grease and lube the shaft after removing the springs occasionally. The points will last nearly forever with frequent cleaning and lubing the cam and points rubbing block.
