Everyone knows 'Rule 1'...
Don't fall off.
So, I managed to break that rule yesterday and my very original, unmolested RE is now, while still original, not looking as nice as it once did.
Here's the thing, it fell on its right hand side, which means I've lost 1/3 off the top of the distributor and done some irreparable damage to the heat shield on the RH pipe. There's other stuff bent and/or scraped of course, but I have spares which should cover those parts - the dizzy and the heat shield I don't have and are going to be the hardest to find I reckon.
I'll be trolling eBay to see what's out there, but if anyone has a junker they are happy to give a up a distributor from, I'd be most grateful. And if anyone has a good RH heat shield, I'll buy that too!
I reserve the right to ask about other bits as I find that I don't have any spares for them!
Ta Paul

Blurry hell Paul. What happened mate ? I ask only because "there by the grace of God.........." and all.
I've seen NOS dizzies come up more than once. Old Gold wreckers bought all of Steve T's stock except for the good one, sold one bike, think he has two more plus many bits.
Oh, and I guess that you're okay ? That question always comes last when we're talking bikes...............

There you guys go, talking some other language. What is a "dizzy" and if you are, you should not be riding. Jeff

Hey mate,
I'm alright, more bruised ego than bruised body - just a bit of gravel rash and a sore shoulder. Getting the bike to Bathurst might be a bit of a stretch now though, unless I can get most of what I need before then.
I'll give Steve L a call today and see if I can grab one of the dizzies from Thommo's old bikes.
Talk soon McB

Glad to know you are here to tell the tale. I am pretty far away, but let me know if I can be of any help from here. Jeff

Glad you are just bruised as you say. It sounds like you went down hard and fast. I should have a used and NOS R.H. shield for sale here in the states. Timpa136

Thanks guys for the thoughts about my well-being.
I've fallen off a few times over the years - I must be getting good at it...
As for those RE5s that Steve L bought, Wayne, he's already sold them and all the parts.
Jess? Help?
