As i would really like to use my RE5 when restored, i am considering in investing in a second Proper unit in case of mishap,as repair looks difficult and spares as rare as the wife in a good mood, and knowing how there is some proper knowledge on this forum was wondering if you had an opinion on the following item www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SUZUKI-RE5-COMPLETE-ROTARY-ENGINE-MOTOR-SM244-/351257343868?i have contacts out there who could collect and store and when right ship back for me, Many thanks for any opinions shared, cheers, Ian.

I would be asking him how he has checked the compression as he is saying its 50 which is very low for an re5 which could be the reason it was parked up and not a runner regards mike

The same guy had one that was 60 psi, or 90 psi... I don't remember.
Rotaries are very forgiving. They will start and run at 65 psi. The bike won't get out of its own way... but it will run/idle and sound fine.
This is why I always stressed a comp test before anything... It makes me crazy when I see people say... "I just got an re5 and kicked it through... it has great compression" I've been fooling with these bikes for 20 plus years, and that statement means less than nothing... literally. This is NOT a piston engine.
The break point is 100 psi. Above good, below bad.
A good motor can become a bad motor in just a few minutes or miles. More often than not... Ran when parked means "boat anchor".

Wow, glad i asked sounds like it could be more trouble than it is worth, especially give the cost/grief to get it back here only to find it is a duffer.
