Hi Guys! I have a blue M and it has a a silver headlamp shell (or bucket or shroud). This fiiremist orange bike that I got off of Google images has the same setup: Most of them seem to be painted the same color as the bike. I was thinking of painting the blue bike and I wonder if I should paint that blue also or leave it silver. It looks OK the way it is. My bike: What do you guys think?

I bought a new replacement headlamp shell later on and that's the only way they were offered.

Ahhhh, that makes sense. It fooled me, because the silver color is a very close match to the decals on the tank. It looks like it should be that way.
I think I'll have it painted.

Those look like my reproduction units.
They are much beefier than the originals and are made from uv stabilized plastic.
My repops are so good that they even have the correct suzuki markings/numbers molded into them.
Good news, they are very difficult to distinguish from originals.
Bad news, unscrupulous folks sell them on eBay as NOS. Much the same as my reproduction instrument covers

But, Dose it matter if it keeps another RE5 on the road. I have NOS and repro and I do not sell them on ebay . but use them on to keep these bikes on the road.

I'll probably be taking mine off in the next week. Is there any way to tell if it is one of yours, Jess?
You're right, repop is just fine if it gets the bike back on the road. If mine is a repop, I don't care, I'm going to use it.

Rog,
NOS or reproduction makes no difference to me. That was not my point. I was commenting that people often sell Reproduction parts as NOS as they are either unscrupulous or misinformed. As NOS part seem to bring a much higher price, I was suggesting that the Buyer beware.
As an example, about two years ago, someone paid darn near 800.00 for an NOS Flip up hood. I cannot be 100% sure as I did not have the item in my hands, but I believe it was one of my units. At the time, I was selling for 80.00.
Tom,
If, when you have the bucket off, send me a couple photos. I may be able to tell. My repops are much better quality than the factory originals. Mine should last a very long time compared to the Suzuki part that was made form non UV stabilized plastic.
Best,
