Hi All this was his response:
Hi Ian this unit is from my own 1975 re5,I was the third owner from new,14600ms.I dropped the bike in 1982 scratched it down one side, it was as new condition and an excellent runner.I then stripped it down to rebuild to showroom condition (never happened). turns over as it should, compression all there as said before was a brilliant runner, dry stored wd/40 and wrapped. Hope this helps regards
hope it helps all interested parties

I have to say it does all sound very strange, but proper units so rarely appear in the UK, often in the states but importation is so damn expensive

I would have expected that any low millage, good running bike that has been accident damaged and is being restored/rebuilt would have the engine removed inclusive of gear box n stuff whilst the bike is being restored and then the engine replaced (maybe with the cases being prettied up a bit).
It would be unusual to strip an accident damaged bike down to a proper unit and only have the proper unit for sale.
I would expect that a spare bare proper unit mainly becomes available when a proper unit replacement has occurred and this occurs when the proper unit itself has a problem or if the owner had an excess of NOS proper units - and if this was the case then I would think that it would be better explained that way.
Just my thoughts - I maybe wrong.
Cheers
Carl
