I've had my '75 for about 20 years, thought it was time to join the forum....stumbled on this quite by accident. If you have a scrap piece of 2x4 about 6" long and a piece of 3/4" plywood 4" x 12", place the 2x4 on the floor between the wheels with the plywood resting on it like a ramp so the front edges match. When you push the bike forward, the back tire runs up the ramp, the ramp flattens out on the 2x4 where you hold with front brake. Push down on the centre stand with your foot and you'll put it up like it was a scooter. I've shortened my stand, for same result anywhere without the "special tools".

What kind of man are you making it easier to put on the center stand? Next you will be telling us you use the electric start instead of the kick start!!

Goes back to the tyre profile,My bike has the original tyres on and am sure this makes it easier to put on the stand, but you need a strong sole on your shoes/boots, Trainers, soft soles are hard work,A Case of Mind over matter, heave ho.

In all the years I've had this bike I've started it with the kickstart...let me think...oh ya, it was once. Hot.
