if any of you had seen my previous posts, roughly 18 months ago, me and my favourite ride had an off, my fault, too fast! i had a spell in a coma, unsure if i would live, walk, talk etc again due to all my severe injuries, brain, left eye, broken neck, collar bone, ribs, both lungs, both legs broken and a smashed L2 vertebra.... oh and a bad stab off a lever or broken something or other!! was that it?? was that enough?? i think so!! anyway, i survived, the bike was also poorly, but i have persevered!! and i am proud and happy to have this bike, back in my life!! pictures1, before the off, picture 2, after, pictures 3 now!!

the damage was... clocks, h lamp, h bars, switchgear, lock stop, fork legs, indicators, tank, tail piece, rear sub frame<badly> both pipes... we went down a d**e, in to a telegraph post and back out again... the bike went from clocks to tail effect in some kind of summer salt!! think i just did a rag doll trick...

Great job! I know what it's like to get back in the saddle after a get off. Luckily for me, I merely damaged the bike and destroyed about $800 worth of riding gear including a Shoei RF1000. I walked (staggered) away with only a broken collar bone and three broken ribs. From the looks of the helmet afterwards had I been without it I might not be here now, or, at the least, I would have ground off my right ear. Now, almost 6 years later I'm still riding. Enjoy the ride and keep the shiny side up.

Penny, beautiful bike along with your RE5 and so good to see the reconditioning and complete repairs you did to your xjr it is stunning. Years back a co worker had a visually stock Yamaha similar to yours and he could pull second gear up at will. I hadn't driven any recent Yamaha until I spent the greater part of a week on my friends FJR riding all the great roads on South and North Carolina last summer. What a fine bike. If I'm lucky, I'll get another chance on the bike this summer. Good on you. rubber side down.
