I've put a hell of a lot of work in this bike. There is no way I'm going to let it burn up.
The rectifier has started to smoke lightly. The wires are hot.
Please tell me there is an easy fix.

Al,
The factory regulator is woefully inadequate and was from the day it was made.
They are a disaster waiting to happen as they are know for melting down, at best, screwing up the harness, at worst, catching fire.
Shock of all shocks... We have a replacement that we have made for us. We have never had on returned... Or fail.
Shoot barb an email. she will get you fixed up.
Best,

The new unit is a solid state regulator/rectifier that comes with matching plug hardware, it's WAY better.
