Where did Lester Mag wheels come from? Where they aftermarket wheels that you bought for your RE5 or were they stock wheels taken off of another newer motorcycle? Would Lester wheels from a GT750 or a GS750 fit a RE5? Or some other bike? Can you buy them new?
Do any other brand of Mag wheels fit the RE5?
Thanks! Tomo

They were manufactured by Lester Wheels. You cannot buy them new, when they were made I believe they fit the GT750 and the RE5.
I do not know if any other mag wheels fit.
If interested I have a set for sale.

7 Star wheels also made mags for the GT750/RE5. Google them. They still come up new on ebay.
I have a rear 7 star and a front from a cast wheel GS750. The front cast will take the discs and bolt straight on. The rear GS wheel is a problem of course as it has a disc. The 7 star is a drum rear.

I think the early GS450 sports will be a 18" drum cast wheel that would match up to the 19" front with the twin discs off the bigger gs's as wayne says. Best Rog

Rog, I went to a recycler and had a good look at the early GS450 rear wheel with that in mind. But unfortunately, I don't believe that it is suitable. The rim is way too narrow and as well as the tyre issue, I'd be nervous about its load carrying ability on the RE5. Here's a shot of a GS750 rim, looks the goods. To the right is my old GT750B with 7 Stars. I still have a rear and it probably wouldn't look too bad matched with the GS front. The GS wheel is, by the way, far superior in quality, fit and finish to the 7 star but I've never had a Lester to compare.

Thanks for the responses guys. Here is a set of GS750 wheels close to me: kansascity.craigslist.org/mcy/3339063762.htmlIt looks to have a rear drum. I wonder if they would fit? They need some work, don't they? ;D I just like the idea of no tube, and my bike is no show bike so it might be a cool way to go. Edit... the rear is a disk, I guess I need glasses. The front might work? Tomo

That front wheel will fit. However, he's a bit rich in his asking price. That GS wheel in the picture I posted of the red RE is mine. I paid $60 from a recycler and the wheel is perfect. Given that we usually pay double what you guys are charged on most things, I think you could do better (?)

I have a set of Lester Mags for the RE5 or GT750 and a set of good brake rotors for the front.
The wheels are brand new and in superb shape. The Discs are used and servicable.
I was going to use them on a modern version of a RE5 with inverted forks and single-shock rear, but I just don't have time to do everything I want to get done....I have several T500, T305, T250, GT550, TC250, T20, T10, S32 etc. in various stages of restoration and have no idea when I'd get to the Custom RE5.
I would consider selling these wheels for $2000. No apologies for the price...cheaper than guys pay for fancy new wheels for their Ducatis, and these are historically significant and brand new...never had a tire on them best I can tell.
Contact me and I will send you photos next week when I get home from Thanksgiving travels.

You know...
That shot of a GSX wheel fitted to the front of Wayne's RE has got me thinking.
I have a set of these wheels from one of my Katanas sitting around doing nothing.
Perhaps they'd look grouse fitted to my RE, with a Katana swingarm and rear disc conversion?
Anyone else tried a Kat swingarm in an RE frame?
