Has anyone tried the Jet Hot coating on their exhaust? My pipes have some surface rust and mild pitting and rather than spend megabucks having them rechromed, I believe I'm going to give Jet Hot a go. I've used their coatings on import turbo manifolds and exhaust impeller housings in the past with great success, a big plus being the major reduction in heat transferred to the engine compartment. Jet Hot recently debuted a polished finish which looks great on a bike exhaust. There were several examples of customer submitted photos and comments, one of the common observations was of the reduction of heat coming off the exhaust on their bikes. Sounds like an ideal treatment for an RE exhaust, what with the extreme heat of the rotary exhaust. BTW, has anyone actually measured headpipe temps on their RE? Jet Hot offers several different coatings, 1300, 2000 & 2500 F temp surface coatings, as well as low friction internal coatings. Something to think about....

Wow, those look great! Not familiar with Cerachrome, could you fill me in on this? What was the cost? Is it a DIY product or was this applied by a coatings company? How long have you had the coating on your pipes? Is there a noticeable reduction in pipe temps since you had them coated? Lots of questions, but I want to do something similar, any help or advice is greatly appreciated. It would be good to have a point of comparison in cost and product durability, too. Jet Hot is a bit pricey, but they do excellent work. I've never used them for motorbike work, so I have no point of reference for their work on motorbike exhausts, other than customer-posted pics on their website. Should be durable though, never had issues with turbos they've coated, and those get red-hot under high boost!

I wish it were that cheap here! Last time I asked here in Perth, they were talking about 200 a side.

Two hundred?!?!? It would cost that PLUS the shipping charge PER pipe to have done by Jet Hot. Two hundred is very reasonable. I checked out the link, it looks like they offer similar products to Jet Hot and operate in a similar fashion. Looks like I need to box up my exhausts and get them shipped out! The chromies in my area are too proud of their work, they quoted $375 per pipe, they do everything, dechroming and prep. $300 per pipe if I bring them already stripped, plus there is extra charge for removal of dents and dings. It could run as much as $800-850 for rechroming. $200 plus about $150 shipping both ways is a much better deal, plus the added benefit of heat reduction, bit of a no-brainer there. Thanks Koolstrike!

My chrome plater did not even want to touch my exhaust pipes due to the carbon inside the pipes causing potential contamination of the chrome bath, so I was forced to find an alternative.
Cerachrome was the final and for me best choice. Fortunately, there are a few place around here that do cerachrome.
Glad to help.
