Good suggestion. I did that and there definitely appears to be some damage there.

If proper unit was good why on earth would he strip it down to its component parts, a good proper unit complete would be worth far more that in bits.

He has not listed the Jug, Only the side plates and the Rotor that has the tips and rings seized in, Maybe the jug had cracked and then rusted the rotor over time while standing. Rog

The only reason I could think of would be the cost of shipping the entire proper rather than the component parts. There are a lot of people out there doing salvage who have no idea what an RE5 is. That said, I'm going to pass on this. I'll save my pennies for a go at another carb if one comes up. Now that my annual Memorial day barbecue is over (45 attending this year, BTW the RE was a big hit with the crowd, even in its sad shape) I hope to get to moving the electrics over from the M model to the rolling chassis I got. If I get it wired I can crank it over and try to get a good compression reading. It feels good with the kickstart even with the plug removed, but I'd like to try and get a real reading, even with a regular gauge.

Good luck with your proper unit gerry, I hope it has good compression when you get to crank it over
