The blow by gas check valve - can somebody explain exactly what this does and maybe the effects of it not working correctly.

I guess the best way to descibe it, as I understand it, is that it basically acts like a crankcase vent in a piston engine. Stops pressure buildup in the oil sump system from any pressure that escapes from the side seals - hose connects back to the air filter housing.
