Hi Guys, Does anyone know where I can send a CDI unit out for repair? It has not failed completely but works intermittently. Put a spare one on the bike and it's fine. Thanks Steve

If you find someone... let me know. I have a stack that need it.
Best,

I had one that failed on my first RE and when I took it apart it was just a couple of diodes that had failed and were very easy & cheap for me to replace.

Aren't those potted? How do you get that crap out of there?
Do you have pictures and instructions?
I'll attempt it.

It was 30 years ago. I cant remember if the board was encapsulated or not. As it had faided I opened it up and tested a few components till I found a diode or 2 open circuit both ways, I bet now if there are any electrolytic capacitors on the board they'll be on their way out too.

Tell y'all what - mine is off my bike as I've fitted Jess' system. I'll take some pics of it 'exposed' and post them up. Cheers Paul McB

I have an older RE5M ( 2020 ) and had to replace a diode. I do not remember any potting around them. I do remember that The diode I took out was rated too close to the operating voltage and replaced it with a higher voltage one.

The diodes mentioned in the Teknic section were the ones I used. Still running for over 30 years.
