With all the carb fiddling I've been doing on my bike I've managed to 'wear out' the OEM (and a few more!) carb float bowl gasket.
Even being very careful, there's only so many times you can remove the float bowl lid without eventually ruining the gasket.
I've been making new ones for myself, as they're not something you can just go to the dealer and get, but I don't think I've been using proper fuel-resistant gasket material as they seem to harden and subsequently disintegrate fairly quickly.
Jess, do you have any OEM/NOS float bowl gaskets in stock, or can anyone advise as to the correct material to make replacements out of?

Paul,
I made a die to produce the float bowl gasket. It has been my experience that really they should only be used once as once they are properly torqued, they should be thrown away.
I cannot tell you how many times when chasing the carburetor " gremlins" the float gasket is allowing an air leak due to reuse and retorque.
Send Barbara an email at RR. Buy a half dozen. They are not cost prohibitive. It is very good part to have on hand. We can put them in aflat envelope and send them first class post so it will only be a few bucks to ship. The downside is that we can't track them and while we hope they take a week to get to you... We can't track them that way.
Best,

You live too far away Paul, outside of the "core" that's developing down here.
Jess gave me samples of his excellent and improved float bowl gaskets. Order them from Jess as you're going to need them but I'll put one in an envelope and post it this afternoon so you can get going ASAP.

I'm mobile though as I have made myself one that seems to be working ok for the time being, however I doubt it will last long as I reckon it's the wrong material. I shall buy you a beer or two at Bathurst for your trouble. Cheers Paul
