Wanted, a proper unit located in the UK or Europe. Mine has a corroded section on the inner surface before the exhaust port. The engine still runs and has good compression but I'd like to change it before I have a complete failure.
If anyone has a good unit (or even better but highly unlikely, a new crated unit) they would like to sell I'd be very interested and very grateful.
Ray

Afternoon Ray, there is a company in the UK that reprofiles the rotor housing and coats it with a wear resistant treament, may be worth a punt if you have no joy getting a replacement proper unit. www.hurleyrotary.com/page.php?currentpageref=6267Regards Stuart.

Have you had a reply from Hurley about this? They also sell RO80 apex and duplex side seals seals which I have been told are the same as ours...

Well that's just rude. How bad is the corrosion on your housing? I've seen mazda rotaries that run perfectly and then when I've torn them down they are missing huge chunks of chrome altogether! I did a fair bit of research years ago on recoating housings. I didn't come up with anyone who was happy with the result- the coating was flaking off at an alarming rate. That was with turbocharged rotaries so maybe it would fare better in a RE5 engine. At the time Hurley wasn't offering the service and it was a couple of mobs in the US doing it. JHB do the cermet coating but they are expensive and not well proven.... jhbperformance.com/services.php

It seems to run fine with the corrosion present (apart from an exessive sump oil consumption which is probably down to shaft seals)
